Notice: Aidan Smith, a retired Cadbury’s and Scouting Ireland Commissioner, passed away on May 5th, 2023, after a brief illness at the Mater Hospital in Dublin. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his wife Peggy and children Esther, Mark, Paul, Lisa, and Gina, as well as ten grandchildren. Aidan was predeceased by his siblings, but leaves behind a large extended family, relatives, friends and neighbours to mourn his passing.

Aidan’s remains will be reposing at Rom Massey & Sons Funeral Home on the evening of Tuesday, May 9th and a Funeral Mass will take place the following day in the Church of The Holy Spirit on Sillogue Road, Dublin. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, those who cannot attend may view the service online. The family has requested that no flowers be sent and instead donations be made to the Irish Cancer Society. Aidan will be remembered for his service to both his community and his country through his work with the Irish Scouts and Cadbury’s, but most importantly, for his love and devotion to his family.

He was a devoted husband to Peggy and father to Esther, Mark, Paul, Lisa, and Gina. Aidan’s funeral will take place on May 10th at the Church of The Holy Spirit on Sillogue Road, Dublin, where mourners are requested to wear colourful attire in celebration of his life rather than dark clothing. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Irish Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank all those who have reached out and expressed their condolences, and those who respected their privacy during this difficult time.
