Notice: Bernadette Threlfall {nee Gaffney}, a resident of Ranelagh, Dublin 6, passed away peacefully on 23 April 2023. She was in the compassionate care of the staff of TLC Carton, Dublin. Bernadette was a widow of the late Barry, and her death is mourned by her sister, Phyllis {Bird}, her brother-in-law Brendan, sister-in-law Ruth, nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbourhood, and friends. On Tuesday, 25 April, her remains will lie at rest at her residence from 5pm to 7pm. Her Funeral Mass will take place at 10am on Wednesday in the Church of the Holy Name, Beechwood Avenue, Ranelagh, before interment in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton. The family invites the public to make donations in lieu of flowers to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or Peter Mc Verry Trust. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on the church’s website.

Bernadette, lovingly remembered as wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, neighbour and friend, was surrounded by the attention of the healthcare providers at TLC Carton during her final days on earth. Reposing from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday 25 April, Bernadette’s remains will be honoured with a final service of Funeral Mass at 10 am Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Name. Following her Mass, she will be laid to rest in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton. Family members, friends and community members are asked to refrain from bringing flowers and instead, make a donation to support the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or the Peter Mc Verry Trust. The Funeral Mass will be available on the church’s website for those who cannot attend.

Bernadette, who recently passed away age has been commemorated in the local Dublin paper. She was predeceased by her husband, Barry, but was beloved by her sister, brother-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends. The family fine repose in holding a visitation from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday to honour Bernadette’s memory. Funeral Mass is scheduled at 10 am Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Name before proceeding to St. Fintan’s Cemetery. Supporting St. Vincent de Paul or Peter Mc Verry Trust is encouraged over floral arrangements. A live stream of the ceremony is available so that those who cannot attend can offer their condolences in a meaningful way.
