Bernie Gray

Notice: Bernie, a resident of Altown, Garrycastle, Athlone, and formerly of Brackloon, Charlestown, Co. Mayo, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023, at the Sonas Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Ted, parents Patrick and Annie Owens, siblings Kathleen, May, and Patsy. Bernie is survived by her siblings Séan, Eileen, and Willie, as well as extended family, relatives, and friends. Bernie’s remains will repose at Flynn’s Funeral Home on May 20 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, followed by a requiem mass at St. Mary’s Church on May 21 at 10:30 am and interment in Coosan Cemetery. Family flowers are requested, with donations to ISPCA if desired. The funeral service will be live-streamed, and sympathizers can leave a message for the family in the “Condolences” tab. Bernie will be sorely missed.

Bernie passed away at the age of 76 and was a long-term resident of Athlone. She was highly esteemed by her immediate and extended family, friends, and the healthcare team at Sonas Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, gone too soon. Bernie’s funeral mass will take place in St. Mary’s Church, where she was once a devout member, on May 21, after repose the previous day. Her interment will take place at Coosan Cemetery. Due to the safety measure of the pandemic, guests are requested to sanitize their hands whenever appropriate. While flowers are welcome, ISPCA donations will be much appreciated. Bernie will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and contributions to the community. The family appreciates the sadness and support shown at this challenging period and requests the friends’ kind understanding.
