Billy Heneghan

Notice: Billy Heneghan of Lighthouse Road, Blacksod, Belmullet, Co. Mayo, passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2023, at the Sonas Tí Aire Nursing Home, Belmullet. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, his parents, Margaret and Anthony Heneghan, sisters Maeve and Margaret, and brother Tony. He was survived by his eight beloved children, Anthony {Las Vegas}, Dearbhla Lawson {Dún Laoghaire}, Eithne Payne {Leicester, England}, Mairéad Noonan {Versaille, France}, Barbara Heneghan {Mullaghroe North, Clogher, Belmullet}, Maeve Lee {Maynooth, Co. Kildare}, Brendan {Lighthouse Road, Blacksod}, and Liam {Rossard, Bunclody, Co. Wexford}, as well as his adored grandchildren.

His family, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister June Stapleton {Balbriggan, Dublin}, nieces, nephews, relatives, former lighthouse keepers, and friends will remember him fondly. His remains will be reposing at McDonnell Funeral Home, Belmullet on Monday evening, with funeral arriving at St. Brendan’s Church on Tirrane on Monday at 8 o’clock. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon, followed by burial in Faulmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the R.N.L.I. to save lives at sea.

Billy Heneghan was a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and member of the community. His kind and gentle soul will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
