Des Carroll of Beladd, Portlaoise and formerly of New Ross, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family. He was the cherished husband of Margaret and a dearly loved father to Gwen {Perth, Western Australia}, Yvonne {Glasnevin}, Deirdre {Kulin, Western Australia}, and Tracey {Birr}. Des was a beloved grandad to Cillian, Orla, Nora, Niamh, Aoife, James, and Tadhg. He will be remembered warmly and deeply missed by his loving brothers Vincent, Jack, Pat, Ray, and Bob, as well as his sons-in-law Tom, Craig, and Niall. He is mourned by his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, former colleagues in An Garda Síochána, friends in The Community Games, relatives, and neighbors.

There will be a viewing at his home on Thursday from 4pm, including a Rosary at 8pm. The funeral procession will take place on Friday, arriving at SS Peter and Paul’s Church in Portlaoise for a requiem Mass at 12 noon. Following the Mass, interment will be held at SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery in Portlaoise.
