Jim Hickey, also known as James or Seamus, passed away peacefully at Marie Curie Hospice in Belfast on August 2nd, 2023. He was a resident of Dromore Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim and was formerly from Reafadda, Hollyford, and Ballagh, Clonoulty, Co. Tipperary.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Niamh. He was the cherished son of the late Tom and Josie Hickey. He is survived by his sister Anne and brother-in-law Eddie Wade, as well as his daughters Ailbhe and Deirdre {Barry}, his son Seamus, and their mother Bridie. He is also remembered by his sons-in-law Brendan and John and his grandchildren Seanán, Tom, and Alfie.

Jim was a beloved uncle to Aoife, Eoghan, Grainne, and Eamonn. He was also an uncle-in-law to Shane, Alma, and Joy, and a granduncle to Emily, Ellie Rose, Richie, John, and Beauden.

The chapel of rest at O’Neill’s Funeral Directors on Stewartstown Road, Belfast, will be the place where Jim’s remains will be laid from 1 pm to 5 pm on Friday, August 4th, 2023. On Saturday, August 5th, his remains will be transferred to White’s Funeral Home in Cappawhite, Co. Tipperary, where he will be laid to rest from 4 pm to 8 pm. His Requiem Mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Church in Hollyford on Sunday at 1 pm.

Jim will be deeply missed by his loving family, his wide circle of friends, and those who cared for him. Donations in memory of Jim can be made to Marie Curie, and messages of sympathy for the family can be left in the Condolence Section below.
