Notice: John {Seanie} Donovan, a resident of Churchfield Place East in Cork and a former member of Engineers COE, Collins Barracks and Cork Corporation, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family and received exceptional care from the staff at Cork University Hospital. John was predeceased by his beloved wife Kathleen and his brothers Liam, Neilus, and Denis. He is survived by his nine cherished sons, John, Frank, Stephen, Denis, Michael, Martin, Paul, Noel, and Mark. Also mourning his loss are his grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
The funeral arrangements include a viewing at Coughlan’s Funeral Home on July 22, with family present from 3:00pm and a Rosary at 4:00pm. The Requiem Mass will take place on July 23 at 11:00am in the Church of the Ascension, Gurranabraher. For those who are unable to attend, the Mass can be viewed via a live stream link provided on the website of Gurranabraher Parish. After the funeral, John will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Blackrock. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Marymount Hospice.
