Notice: Kathleen {Kay} McDermott {Nee MacMahon}, aged 96, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023. Surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Millbrae Lodge, Newport, Kay’s death leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends. She was the beloved wife of the late Terry McDermott and cherished mother of Annette, Terence, Catherine, Brian, and the late John. She will be dearly missed by her sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, friends, and neighbors. Kay was predeceased by her sisters Hilda, Mabel, Emily, and Marie, brothers Cyril and Brendan, and granddaughter Karen. May she rest in peace.
The wake will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home on Thomas Street, with repose from 4:30pm to 6pm on Monday, July 31. This will be followed by the removal to St. Munchin’s Church, Clancy Strand. Requiem mass will take place on Tuesday, August 1, at 11am, with burial to follow in Old Mungret Cemetery.
