Obituary: Marie Harrington {formerly Marie Power}
Marie Harrington {nee Power}, aged 82, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2023, at Bantry General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Harrington and a cherished mother to Ted, Eileen, Claire, and Sarah. Marie was also a doting grandmother to Thomas, Gary, Conor, Alannah, Kieran, Rebecca, Katelyn, Cormac, Leah, Niamh, Liam, Emmet, and Aoife.
Born in Dromard, Ardgroom, Co. Cork, Marie was predeceased by her brothers Billy, Frank, Dick, and baby Patrick, as well as her sisters-in-law Tess, Pat, and Marie. She will be missed by her surviving brothers Finbar and Brendan, sisters Joan and Eileen, sons-in-law Cyril, Den, and Kieran, daughters-in-law Ophelia and Carmel, brothers-in-law Fr Ted, Pat, and John, sisters-in-law Sheila, Mary, Sheila, and Maureen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Marie’s family invites anyone wishing to pay their respects to attend the visitation at O’ Connor’s Funeral Home in Kenmare on Sunday, August 6, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. A Requiem Mass will be held on Monday, August 7, at 11.00am at Dauros Church, followed by burial at The Old Kenmare Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bantry General Hospital.
