Notice: Philomena Burke, aged [not provided], passed away peacefully on Friday morning at the Tipperary University Hospital. She had been battling a short illness and was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments. Philomena, also known as Phil, was the beloved wife of Bartley Burke and a devoted mother to Karen, Elaine, Róisín, David, Páraic, and Aidan. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Pierce and Kathleen Hackett, as well as her baby brother Pierce. Philomena will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Kirstie, Tara, Liam, Cúán, Molly, and Donnchadh, her sister Nuala {Blackett}, and her sons– and daughters-in-law. She will also be missed by her extended family, friends, and fellow colleagues in the teaching profession.
The family will be holding a reposing session for Philomena at Condons Funeral Parlour in Clonmel on Sunday evening. Her remains will then be moved to St Mary’s Church in Irishtown for the funeral mass on Monday. The burial will take place later at St Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the C.A.R.E. Cancer Support Centre in Clonmel. Over the next few days, they also request that friends and acquaintances light a candle or say a prayer in Philomena’s memory.
