Notice: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yoshiko Ushioda {nee Mizoguchi} on January 31st, 2024. Yoshiko, a recipient of the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, and former Japanese Curator of the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin, peacefully passed away in the loving care of Altadore Nursing Home, Glenageary. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Satoshi Ushioda and a dearly loved mother of son Kazi and daughter Ema. Yoshiko will be deeply missed by her family, daughter-in-law Marie, grandsons Cian and Eric, as well as her sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and other relatives, former colleagues, and friends in both Ireland and Japan.

In honoring her memory, the family kindly requests no flowers and for the house to remain private. Donations, if desired, can be made to the Beaufort Day Care Centre, Glasthule. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

She was a remarkable woman, known for her dedication as the former Japanese Curator of the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin, and as a recipient of the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays. Yoshiko was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Satoshi Ushioda, and a cherished mother to her son Kazi and daughter Ema. Her absence will be deeply felt by her family, including daughter-in-law Marie, grandsons Cian and Eric, as well as her sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and other relatives, colleagues, and friends in Ireland and Japan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests privacy at this time and encourages donations to the Beaufort Day Care Centre, Glasthule, in honor of Yoshiko’s memory. May she rest in peace.
